Joan Robledo-Palop is an art historian, entrepreneur and art collector born in Valencia, Spain, and based in New York, USA.

Robledo-Palop studied History of Art at the Universitat de València, Universidad Autonoma de Madrid and at Yale University, where he wrote his MA thesis on the art of Francisco de Goya. He has been a Research Fellow at the Spanish National Research Council - CSIC[1] in Madrid, and at New York University.

He was a curator at the Fundación Chirivella Soriano[2] and has worked for curatorial departments at the Yale University Art Gallery and the Yale Center for British Art. He has published,[3] taught and lectured widely on Modern and Contemporary Art in institutions such as Yale, the School of Visual Arts in New York,[4] University College Cork, Ireland,[5] the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia,[6] Centre Pompidou Málaga,[7] and the Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid.[8][9]

Career

In 2016, Joan Robledo-Palop founded Zeit Contemporary Art, a New York-based firm specializing in modern, postwar and contemporary art. He has worked with contemporary artists including Eddie Aparicio, Julia Rooney, Bryson Rand, Vincent Tiley, and Nelo Vinuesa, focusing on projects that explore critical themes in contemporary art. His exhibitions have included major presentations such as Minimal Means: Concrete Inventions in the US, Brazil and Spain, and Eduardo Chillida: On Paper, which examined the artist’s use of drawing and printmaking to explore spatial concerns.

Robledo-Palop has also contributed to the evolution of online exhibitions and scholarly podcasts, such as Perspectives, which examines the intersection of art and ideas.[10] He has emphasized the role of digital platforms in expanding access to modern and contemporary art.[11]

Recognition and Influence

Robledo-Palop’s contributions to the art world have been recognized in major publications, including The New York Times, which featured his participation in Salon Art + Design 2023, where Zeit Contemporary Art presented works by Robert Mangold.[12] He was also named in Cultbytes’ Power List: Who to Keep an Eye on in 2025, acknowledging his impact on contemporary art discourse and market trends.[13]

Balancing his roles as a curator, scholar, and art dealer, Robledo-Palop maintains an active presence across both institutional and commercial art spaces. His work continues to shape dialogues in modern and contemporary art through exhibitions, publications, and advisory initiatives.
