Jean-François Pauzé (born 12 September 1975), known as JF Pauzé, is a Québécois songwriter and musician known for being the guitarist and a member of the group Les Cowboys Fringants which he co-founded with singer Karl Tremblay in 1994.[1] He is the principal lyricist and composer of the band, having written most of their songs released since the 1990's.[2]
Although he's not the principal singer, he plays a key role into spreading the message of the group and its musical style. His texts are ones of protestation, addressing themes about social issues, political debates, environment preservation, by combining humour, emotion and poetry.[3]
Early life
Jean-François Pauzé was born on 12 September 1975, in Repentigny. Both of his parents are teachers. There, he lived a great and peaceful childhood, wich will lead him to describe it nostalgically in the songs Banlieue and Rue des souvenirs.
Self-thaught, he will learn the ropes of guitar's play. In September of the year 1994, into the changing room of the Repentigny Jets, a Junior B hockey team, he meets Karl Tremblay. This is an important encounter for both who have academic difficulties.
