James Michael Thornton (born February 8, 1965) is an American former professional football player who played tight end for seven seasons for the Chicago Bears, the New York Jets, and the Houston Oilers. He was given the nickname "RoboCop" because of his physique.[1] He was selected by the Bears in the fourth round of the 1988 NFL draft.[2] He played his high school career at Analy High School in Sebastopol, California.
