Isaac Ochberg (1879–1938) was a South African philanthropist of Ukrainian-Jewish origin.[1] Born in the Ukraine, he emigrated to South Africa in 1894.[2] In 1921, he organized the relocation of approximately 200 Jewish orphans from the Soviet Union and Poland to South Africa, following the disruptions of World War I and pogroms in Eastern Europe.[3][4] The children were placed in Jewish orphanages in Cape Town and Johannesburg with the support of the South African Jewish War Victims Fund.[5][6]

In Israel, Kibbutz Galed was named Even Yitzhak in his memory, and a monument commemorating him stands at Kibbutz Dalia.[7][8]
