The Internet Junkbuster is a web proxy that can block ads and cookies.[1] As of 2000 it functioned by checking requested URLs, including those for images, against a blocklist.[2] It was developed by the Junkbusters Corporation and released under the GNU General Public License. However, the Internet Junkbuster has not been updated since 1998 and the junkbusters.com web site is no longer maintained.[3]

Privoxy is an up-to-date filtering proxy based on the Junkbuster code, but it is much more powerful.

Junkbuster's developers at one point released Guidescope, a consumer version of Junkbuster.[1]

Reception

A review by InfoWorld in 2000 gave it a score of "Good" but criticized it for the technical knowledge needed to modify the blocklist by manually editing a .ini file.[2]
