InterTV dos Vales is a television station concessioned in the city of Colonel Fabriciano but based in Governador Valadares, both located in Minas Gerais.
History
The granting of the Ministério das Comunicações was made in 2001 to Rede Vanguarda de Ipatinga in Coronel Fabriciano. Due to numerous problems, the project was shelved for six years, until in 2007, Rede Vanguarda joined the Coelho Diniz Group of Governador Valadares and set up the station in Coronel Fabriciano.
Affiliation with Rede Record
Before going on the air, in an interview with the news program Jornal dos Vales on June 27, when asked about the reasons that led TV dos Vales to affiliate with Rede Record de Televisão, Carlos Wagner said he believed that the measure was right.
Estamos apostando num time que está vencendo. É líquido e certo que num futuro próximo a Rede Record será um dos principais meios de comunicação do país, como é hoje a Rede Globo.
TV dos Vales started its test signals on July 13, 2007, relaying Rede Record, including 40 cities where the station had relays. The station had announced that it would remain experimental for one month; then on August 6, the station was oficially founded[2] when Minister of Communications Hélio Costa and station owner Hercílio Diniz cut the inaugural strip.[2] After its founding, it began satellite broadcasts to northern and north-eastern Minas Gerais, with coverage in 133 cities in the valleys of Rio Doce, Mucuri and Jequitinhonha, reaching an audience estimated at over 2 million viewers.[2]
Local programming started on Spetmber 15, in November, it expanded its reach to 108 municipalities,[3] and in January 2008, the pretended target of 133 municipalities,[3] covering Vale do Aço (source of the station's name), Jequitinhonha and Rio Doce.[3]
The station had two editions of Jornal dos Vales (morning and evening), as well as a local edition of Balanço Geral eand sports program Bola no Gol.
2008: Leaving Rede Record
In the early months of 2008, Capixaban businessman Fernando Aboudib Camargo (owner of Rede InterTV, as well as owning businesses in sixteen other sectors) becomes its shareholder.
