Lieutenant General Hidayat ur Rehman HI(M) is a retired three-star general in the Pakistan Army. He served as commander of the XI Corps in Peshawar.[1][2] In January 2024, he was appointed Chairman of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission.[3]

Early life and education

Hidayat ur Rehman was born in the village of Bonji, Astore District, in the region of Gilgit-Baltistan. He joined the Pakistan Army in 1983 through the Azad Kashmir Regiment.[4] He is a graduate of the Command and Staff College in Quetta and the National Defence University in Islamabad, where he also served as an instructor.[5]

Military career

Rehman commanded infantry brigades and divisions including the 9th Infantry Division in Gujranwala and the 11th Infantry Division in Lahore.[6]

In 2014, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant general and appointed as the Corps Commander of XI Corps in Peshawar.[1] He has also served as the Director General of Military Training and as military adviser at the United Nations.[5]

In 2017, he was appointed as Colonel Commandant of AK Regiment.[7]

Post-retirement

In January 2024, Hidayat ur Rehman was appointed Chairman of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission by the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.[3]
