Hayward College
Hayward College Te Kāreti o Hayward, in Dunedin, New Zealand, is a residential college of the city's University of Otago, housing 176 students.[1]
History
Queen Mary
Queen Mary Hospital, a maternity hospital, opened here in 1937 with 26 beds. A wing added in 1953 increased the hospital to 44 beds.[2]
Conversion
The hospital was replaced by an in-house "maternity centre" in the adjacent Dunedin Hospital and converted for student use. It opened in 1992.[1]
It was named after siblings Jock and Vera Hayward, described by the college as having "had long associations with the University and the Hospital respectively."[1]
