Hanmer Forest Park

Hanmer Forest Park is a forest park located in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand, 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) northwest of Hanmer Springs and 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) northwest of State Highway 7A.[1] The park was named after Hanmer Springs, which was in turn named after Thomas Hanmer.[2] The park, along with all locations related to the town, are commonly misspelled as 'Hamner'.

Activities

There are multiple walking trails that go through Hanmer Forest Park. Chatterton River Track is an advanced 2.5 hour walk along the Chatterton River, and the 4-5 hour Jollies Park Track summits Mt Isobel in the north.[1]
