The Greece Women's National Ice Hockey Team is the women's ice hockey selection team representing Greece. It is organized by the Greek Heritage Ice Hockey Team and is recognized by the Greek Ice Sports Federation as the official national team of Greece for women's ice hockey.[1]
History
The team made its debut at the 2025 Challenger Series in Chicago, where it achieved notable victories, including a 10-2 win against the Puerto Rican women's national team and a 9-2 win against a U.S. selection team (Team North America). Future tournament participations are scheduled for the Montreal Challenger Series in July and the Latam Cup in August 2025.
Eligibility and international recognition
The team's eligibility criteria stipulate that players must either be part of the Greek diaspora or have a connection to Greece. However, these criteria do not align with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) regulations, which generally require players to participate in the national league of Greece for at least eight months. As a result, the Greek women's team is not eligible to participate in official IIHF competitions.[2]
