Giovanni Battista Stefaneschi
Giovanni Battista Stefaneschi (1582–1659) was a Tuscan painter of the Baroque period. He is also called the Eremita di Monte Senario. He was born in Ronta, a frazione of Borgo San Lorenzo.[1] He was a pupil of the painter Andrea Commodi[2] and was also influenced by Jacopo Ligozzi and Pietro da Cortona.[3]: 589
For Ferdinand II Medici, Duke of Tuscany, he painted various history subjects, including four copies in miniature of works by Correggio, Andrea del Sarto, Raphael and Titian.[3]: 589
He died in Venice on 31 October 1659.[2]
