Floccifex porci is a species of Gram-positive and strictly anaerobic bacteria in the family Erysipelotrichaceae. It is the sole validly published species in the genus Floccifex and was first isolated from the feces of a healthy domestic pig in Germany.[1]

Morphology and physiology

F. porci is a non-motile, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped prokaryote. It grows exclusively under anaerobic conditions and forms flocculent (tuft-like) aggregates in liquid culture, an attribute reflected in the genus name (floccus = tuft, fex = maker).[1]
