G Ettinger Limited is a British manufacturer of luxury leather goods based in London. It was founded in 1934 by Gerry Ettinger and remains a family-owned business, now run by his son, Robert Ettinger.[1]
The company designs and produces small leather goods, bags, and travel accessories. Its products are sold through its website and distributed internationally, with a particularly strong presence in Japan.[2][3][4]
The company owns a leather goods factory in Walsall, a historic hub for British leatherworking, while maintaining its head office in London.
Ettinger was granted a royal warrant by Charles, Prince of Wales in 1996, and produced licensed gifts for the Wimbledon Championships from 1992 to 2015.[5]
Company history
G Ettinger Ltd was founded in 1934 by Gerry Ettinger, a German-born entrepreneur who began importing luxury leather goods into the UK.[6][7]
From the 1950s to the 1980s, the company expanded manufacturing in London and later in Walsall.[8]
Robert Ettinger took over in 1990 and developed the brand internationally, particularly in Japan.[9][10]
Craftsmanship
Ettinger manufactures its products at a factory in Walsall, a region with a long history of leatherworking. The company continues to use traditional techniques such as hand-cutting, skiving, and edge-finishing, and has a dedicated team of artisans producing its leather goods.[11][12][13][14]
Partnerships and associations
Ettinger has supplied leather goods to several notable British brands, including Asprey, Harrods, Fortnum & Mason, and Bentley.[15]
The company is a member of several industry organisations:
- Royal Warrant Holders Association[16]
- Walpole, the British luxury brands association[17]
- Member of the United Kingdom Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT)[18]
