Democratic Republican Party (South Korea, 1997)
The Democratic Republican Party (Korean: 민주공화당; Hanja: 民主共和黨) was a conservative political party in South Korea that was founded on September 4, 1997. The party supported the presidential candidacies of its leader, Huh Kyung-young, in the 1997 and 2007 presidential elections. In preparation for the 2007 election, it temporarily registered as the Economic Republican Party before returning to its original name in 2008. Throughout its history, the party experienced multiple dissolutions and re-registrations. Huh departed from the party by 2009 and was succeeded by Park Dong-gyu, who became the leader on June 22, 2009. The party is now defunct.
