Dadah Kiram Ismula (born Haima Kiram Ismula; February 26, 1985) is a Filipino Moro politician and Indigenous leader who is a representative for Akbayan Partylist since 2025. She was elected to the House of Representatives of the Philippines in 2025, as the third nominee of the Akbayan Partylist, which won three seats in an upset victory.

Early life and education

Ismula was born Haima Kiram Ismula on February 26, 1985, in Zamboanga City.[1] She is a member of the Sama-Banguingui ethnic group, one of the Indigenous Moro communities in the Southern Philippines.

She attended Pilar College for her secondary education from May 1998 to 2002. She then earned her bachelor's degree in Political Science from Western Mindanao State University, graduating in 2006. She pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in General Management at Andres Bonifacio College from 2016 to 2019.

Election

Ismula was named as the third nominee of the Akbayan Citizens' Action Party for the 2025 Philippine House of Representatives elections, after human rights lawyer Chel Diokno and incumbent representative Perci Cendaña.[1][2][3]

On February 11, 2025, the first day of the campaign period, Kiram-Ismula led a fluvial parade featuring the region's vintas off the coast of her native Zamboanga City to showcase her heritage as a member of the indigenous people belonging to the Sama Bangingi tribe and Moro communities.[4] Her campaign pushed for progressive change and advocated for the rights of marginalized indigenous and Moro communities..[5]

Kiram-Ismula will be sworn in on June 30, 2025.

Political positions

As an IP Moro women leader, Kiram-Ismula advocates for the rights of Moro and Indigenous communities in the Philippines. She regularly leads in organizing the Indigenous People's Month Celebration.

Personal life

Ismula manages a private resort in Zamboanga featuring traditional Sama-Bangiingui cottages and cuisine often served in Latal.
