Carex vixdentata is a tussock-forming species of perennial sedge in the family Cyperaceae. It is native to parts of South America.[1]
Description
Carex vixdentata is a grass-like, clump-forming plant, with stems that reach from 10 to 60 cm. Basal sheaths are reddish in colour and fibrous in consistency. Leaves are 3 mm. wide, with a proximal bract of 10 to15 cm. The inflorescence takes the form of several spikes, both male and female.[2]
Distribution and habitat
This species is endemic to E. Paraguay, NE. and S. Central Argentina, and Uruguay.[3]It favours muddy, and sometimes sandy soil along the coast, and also occasionally inland.[4]
