Cannabis NL is a Crown corporation responsible for supply to retail sales of cannabis products in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is incorporated as a subsidiary of the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation.[2]

History

In 2017, the New government announced the establishment of 24 cannabis distributor locations, but only 22 were established.[3] Of the 24 originally announced, 10 were to be operated by Dominion, a division of Loblaw.[4] All are operated privately but supplied by Cannabis NL.

Cannabis NL was established in 2018, following the introduction of the Cannabis Act, legalizing cannabis use across Canada.[5] Cannabis NL oversees the distribution of cannabis to private stores who then sell it.[6]

Cannabis NL optioned two expiring licenses to Atlantic Cultivation and a competitor, Tweed, was forced to shut down two stores.[7]
