Boonsin Padklang (Thai: บุญสิน พาดกลาง, RTGS: Bunsin Phatklang; born 1964/1965) is a Thai military officer serving as the commander of the 2nd Army Area, which covers Northeastern Thailand.[1][2][3]
Early life and education
Boonsin was born in Udon Thani province in 1964 or 1965.[4] He attended the Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School, Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy, and Royal Thai Army’s Command and General Staff College.[4]
2025 Cambodian–Thai border crisis and 2025 Thai political crisis
Boonsin's role in the 2025 Cambodian–Thai border crisis was criticized by Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra on a private phone call with Cambodian Senate President and former Prime Minister Hun Sen.[5][6] The conversation was leaked, leading to criticism of Paethongtarn's leadership.[7] Boonsin later spoke to Paetongtarn and noted “I informed the prime minister that I had no issue with her and that I understood her,”.[7]
Following the leak of the phone call, the Bhumjaithai Party announced its withdrawal from the coalition government.[8]
