Bilozerske (Ukrainian: Білозерське, IPA: [biloˈzɛrsʲke] ; Russian: Белозёрское, romanizedBelozyorskoye) is a city in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. Population: 14,634 (2022 estimate).[1] In a city of 14 thousand inhabitants, about 11 thousand remain.[2]

History

It was founded in 1913 as a khutir by re-settlers from Melitopol county, Taurida Governorate.

In 1930, the land around khutir was added to the Soviet state farm "Bolshevichok".

The settlement was transformed soon after the World War II when near it was established a coal mine "Dobropillia" in 1947.

In 1966, the urban-type settlement became a city.[3][4] In 1969, the population of the city was 20.6 thousand people. The basis of the economy was coal mining.[5]

In the 1980s the basis of the economy was coal mining and a mineral water plant.[4] In January 1989, the population of the city was 21.1 thousand people.[3]

In January 2013 the population was 16,101 people.[6]
