Betulia is a town and municipality in the Santander Department in northeastern Colombia.
Biodiversity
Frog Hypodactylus adercus is only known from Betulia, its type locality.[2][3]
The high Andean forest located west of the municipal center of Betulia is an isolated remnant of the Serranía de los Yariguíes National Natural Park. Several trails cross this forest, where over 120 bird species have been recorded, including many endemics such as the Black Inca (Coeligena prunellei), the Wattled Guan (Aburria aburri), the Colombian Chango (Macroagelaius subalaris), and the Yariguí Antpitta (Grallaria ruficapilla ssp. nov.). These and many other species can be observed in the surrounding forests of Black Inca House, a local nature lodge dedicated to birdwatching and the conservation of native Andean ecosystems.
