Balkanabat Airport (Turkmen: Balkanabat aeroporty), also known as Nebit Dag Airport, was a provincial airport located 4.5 kilometres (2.8 mi) southeast of Balkanabat in Turkmenistan. Since 2025, a new Balkanabat International Airport, has been operating in Jebel, 20 kilometers from Balkanabat city.
History
An opening ceremony of the new Balkanabat Airport terminal was held on 7 November 2004. The terminal building is spread over 3,500 square metres and has a capacity of 200 passengers per hour. The runway can handle aircraft weighing up to 150 tonnes.[4]
In July 2021, 20 kilometers from the city of Balkanabat, construction began on the new Balkanabat International Airport,[5] which opened in May 2025.[6]
