Budhwa Mangal
Budhwa Mangal or Bada Mangal or Bada Mangalwar[1] is a several weeks long festival celebrated in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, on every Tuesday in the Hindu month of Jyeshtha. According to local beliefs, Hanuman met Lord Rama for the first time on a Tuesday in the month of Jyeshtha. Since then it is believed that all Tuesdays of this month are auspicious. On this special day, kirtans are held in temples and bhandaras are organized for the devotees at various temples and places.
The Budhwa Mangal is also an example of the syncretic history of the city. According to historians, the wife of the third Nawab of Awadh, Muhammad Ali Shah, patronized the construction of the temple in Aliganj vicinity of Lucknow,[2] after she was blessed with a baby boy. People celebrate it by organising community feasts across city.
