Béthencourt-sur-Somme (French pronunciation: [betɑ̃kuʁ syʁ sɔm], literally Béthencourt on Somme; Picard: Bétencourt-su-Sonme) is a commune in the Somme department in Hauts-de-France in northern France.

Geography

The commune is situated on the D15 and D62 road junction, on the banks of the river Somme, some 16 miles (26 km) west of Saint-Quentin.

History

It was here that King Henry V of England found a crossing point over the Somme on 19 October 1415, just days before the Battle of Agincourt.[4]
