AnyVan is a UK-based online marketplace offering large-item delivery, removals services, vehicle transport and storage. The platform matches a user’s delivery needs to the existing routes of transport providers or those nearby, aiming to reduce costs and CO₂ emissions by optimising van space.[1]

The company operates across the United Kingdom, parts of continental Europe, and the United States, providing both domestic and commercial logistics solutions. AnyVan is headquartered in Hammersmith, London.

History

AnyVan was founded in 2009 by entrepreneur Angus Elphinstone. While running a removal business White Van Gentleman, Elphinestone developed the idea for AnyVan to tackle inefficiency and a lack of transparency in the transport industry.

AnyVan initially operated exclusively in the UK, before expanding into Germany in 2012, and later launching services in Ireland, Spain, France and Italy. In May 2025, they began offering vehicle transportation services in the USA.[2]

In 2015 AnyVan began offering B2B delivery services, notably autoshipping for large car manufacturers and car dealerships, as well as large goods delivery for retail businesses.

Corporate structure

In January 2022, private equity firm Vitruvian Partners led a £125 million funding round and became AnyVan’s majority stakeholder.[3] Other shareholders include Celer Investments Ltd and founder Angus Elphinstone, with the remaining equity held primarily by employees.[4]

Area covered

AnyVan operated exclusively in the UK between October 2009 and February 2012. In March 2012, the company expanded in Germany, opening a German website and allowing German transport providers to bid. As of December 2015, the company also operates in Ireland, Spain, France and Italy.

Awards

AnyVan.com has received awards only for its first year of operations. These were from the thegoodwebguide.co.uk website of the year award in 2010, the Green Entrepreneur Awards' Green Project of the Year 2010 and the Rushlight Award for Environmental Sustainability.[5][6][7] It has also received a 5/5 rating from Webuser.com in 2010.[8]
