Antonio Cipriano (born May 13, 2000) is an American actor and singer. He made his Broadway debut in 2019 playing Phoenix in the musical Jagged Little Pill. On screen, he has made appearances in television series such as Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin on Max, Harlan Coben's Shelter on Prime Video, and the Disney+ series National Treasure: Edge of History.

Early life and education

Antonio Cipriano was raised in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, in Metro Detroit. There, he attended University Liggett School from which he graduated in 2018.[1][2] He was involved in numerous local and school theatre productions and was a member of the Michigan Opera Theatre Children's Chorus.[3]

Career

Cipriano's career began as a high schooler. He represented Michigan at the 2017 National High School Musical Theater Awards (also known as the Jimmy Awards) .[4][5]

In 2018, he was cast in the original Cambridge, Massachusetts, production of the musical Jagged Little Pill, inspired by the album of the same name by Alanis Morissette.[6] The production played at American Repertory Theater for two-and-a-half months. In January 2019, it was announced the show would transfer to Broadway.[7] In the interim, Cipriano appeared in the original reading of the stage adaption of The Notebook, with music by Ingrid Michaelson.[8] among several other projects. Following previews of Jagged Little Pill, the production opened on Broadway in December 2019.[9] The musical was nominated for fifteen Tony Awards, and won the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album.

On September 26, 2021, Cipriano announced that he would not be returning to Jagged Little Pill due to alleged transphobic and abusive treatment of the show's non-binary cast members.[10]

Cipriano then went on to star in the Disney+ series National Treasure: Edge of History, based on the National Treasure films.[11]

Since then, he has been a part of numerous projects both on stage and screen including Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin on MAX, and Shelter on Prime Video.

In 2025, he started a production company with his partner, Justine Verheul, called Might Be Smart Productions. The company offers masterclasses, produces concerts, and stages live theatrical performances. The company is active on social media platforms such as Instagram and Tiktok. [12]

Personal life

From 2019 to 2021, Cipriano was in a relationship with fellow Broadway actor and singer Reneé Rapp.[13]
