Angela Pang Ka-lai (Chinese: 彭家麗, born 27 June 1969), is a Hong Kong female singer and singing instructor. His younger brother is the artist Peter Pang Ho-fung. Before retiring from the music industry, she was an artiste of TVB. In 2012, she joined Hong Kong Television Network. In 2013, she returned to the music industry and signed with Sony Music Entertainment (Hong Kong) and TVB (2014). Pang is the first singer in Hong Kong to release a MiniDisc.
Early life
Angela Pang Ka-lai grew up in Hung Hom, Kowloon in her early years. She has an older sister and a younger brother, both of whom attend English primary schools,[1] she once ranked first in my class. She like math and English, but not Chinese. She has participated in a children's choir. Later, due to her father's work, he was admitted to a Chinese middle school. While studying at Fung Kai No.1 Secondary School, she studied science and had better results in additional mathematics. In addition, she is a member of the Junior Police Call. After graduating from Form 5, she originally planned to become a nurse, but was unable to apply because the government cancelled the nursing examination. After that, she studied tourism and business courses and also applied to be a flight attendant.
Career
She once participated in the Junior Police Call Singing Competition. In 1987, she accompanied her friends to participate in the CBS/Sony Asia Star Singing Competition hosted by Hong Kong Sony Music and won the championship. She also represented Hong Kong in Tokyo, Japan to compete together with representatives from China, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea. Although she did not win the prize in Japan, she was invited by Hong Kong Sony Music to sign a contract as a singer. As her family requested that Hong Kong Sony Music wait until she finished her studies before officially becoming a singer, she did not release her first solo EP Goodbye Nineteen until February 17, 1989. In the same year, she was arranged by the company to join Asia Television as a partner with Baby Bo Pui Yue and Fanny Cheng Sui Fan,[2] They traveled to Japan together to shoot the music special "Kagoshima New School Trio".[3][2] Pang subsequently released many albums, including Wind Chimes, Is It a Night Like This That Makes You Think of Me Like This and Never Likes to Be Alone (duet with William So). As she believed she was not suited to the entertainment industry and her efforts were not rewarded accordingly (for example, the song "Is It On Nights Like These That Make You Think Of Me Like This" topped the music song charts but did not win any awards), Pang terminated her contract with Hong Kong's Sony Music shortly after Never Like To Be Alone won an award. Together with two friends, one of whom was Rita Carpio, Pang opened a music school as a singing teacher.
At about 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2004, after sending a friend home, Pang was robbed on Shanghai Street in Jordan, her skull was fractured and she nearly died.[4] During her convalescence, she attended a gathering at the Hong Kong Artists' Home in May 2004 at the invitation of a friend, and in November 2004 she decided to convert to Protestantism, and participated in many sermons to share his experiences. In 2008, she worked as a clerical assistant in the development department of a real estate company for one year, responsible for leasing matters.
In August 2013, Pang sang "Never Like Being Alone" with Red Sun Entertainment Chairman Chu Sau-yan at a fundraising event,[5] Chu Sau-yan's off-tune singing and inability to keep up with the beat caused people to laugh at her. The clip went viral online and has been viewed over 1 million times to date, which is five times more than the original version she sang with William So, making her the focus of attention again.[6] Pang appeared composed and calm performing opposite Chu Sau-yan, and therefore won praise from netizens for her professionalism. In December of the same year, she rejoined Hong Kong Sony Music Entertainment to prepare for the release of an album.[7]
On August 8, 2014, Pang released her new album "It's All About Angela Pang" after 19 years. It is a collection of new songs and selections. It was produced by the famous music producer Edward Chan and the famous musician Ernest Lau Yin-tak as Hi-Res Audio Producer. It was recorded with high sound quality and a grand new album launch conference was held. Later, he held his first autograph session in more than 20 years in the industry. The record sales response was good, and he released multiple versions, including Hi-Res CD, SACD, and vinyl records. On June 23, 2016, she released her 12th solo music album "Recall", which is also her first cover album, covering ten famous songs including "Lover and Confidant" (Chinese: 情人知己), "Can't Stop Thinking of You" (Chinese: 不可以不想你), "With You" (Chinese: 有了你) and "Accumulated Emotions" (Chinese: 堆積情感). The entire album was arranged by Roel A. Garcia and produced by Danny Summer. In October 2019, she co-hosted a new music program Chill Club for ViuTV together with Karen Tong Po-yu and Thor Lok Chun-wai, singing his own famous songs and duetting with guests on the program.
