Andrés Santamarta Roig (born 23 January 2007) is a Spanish tennis player. He has a career high singles ranking of No. 698 achieved on 30 June 2025.[1][2]
Early life
From Valencia, he started playing tennis at the age of four years-old and competitively a few years later. He is one of four siblings. His father and two older brothers also played tennis. He attended school locally before switching to an online school through a program based in Madrid.[3]
Career
He is a member of the GTennis Academy. He won the Madrid Open U16 title in 2023 and won the Spanish Junior Championship the following year. In 2024, he made his debut on the ATP Challenger Tour.[4][5] In November 2024, he was brought in as a practise partner for the Spanish Davis Cup Team ahead of the Davis Cup Finals.[6]
In December 2024, he became the first Spaniard since Alberto Martín in 1996 to win the Orange Bowl title defeating Moise Kouame in the final.[7] Having also previously won the J300 Bradeton in the United States that month, he became the fifth player to achieve that particular double after Andy Roddick in 1999, Dominic Thiem in 2011, Miomir Kecmanovic in 2016, and Thiago Agustín Tirante in 2019.[8][9] He won the J500 Gaspar in March 2025, and the following month won the J500 International HTV Junior Open in Offenbach with 7-5 7-5 win against Romania’s Yannick Theodor Alexandrescou.[10] In doing so, he became the first Spanish player to win 3 J500 titles. The following year, he had risen to No. 3 in the ITF junior world rankings by May 2025.[3] He was subsequently the number one seed at the 2025 French Open in the boys' singles but was defeated by eventual champion Niels McDonald.[11][12][13]
Style of play
Speaking in 2025, he described his forehand as his greatest asset.[14]
