Amjad Masad

Amjad Masad (Arabic: أمجد مسعد) is a Jordanian-American entrepreneur and engineer. He is the founder and CEO of Replit. Before Replit, Amjad worked at Facebook, overseeing the JavaScript infrastructure team and also as a founding engineer at Codecademy.[1]

Early Life

Amjad was born in Amman, Jordan to immigrant parents.[2] His family is Muslim, his father's family is Palestinian, and his mother's is Algerian.[3] Despite his father family's financial struggles, Amjad stated that he was very lucky because Palestinians value education more than anything else.[3]

Career

Amjad is a computer science graduate from Princess Sumaya University for Technology in Jordan.[4] His journey took him from Jordan to the heart of Silicon Valley, which led led him to prestigious roles at tech giants, including a stint as a software engineer at Facebook from October 2013 to April 2016. Before Facebook, Masad was a founding engineer at Codecademy from November 2011 to October 2013.[5]

In 2016, he co-founded Replit. It was established as an online integrated development environment (IDE) by Amjad Masad, Haya Odeh, and Faris Masad.[4]
