Ailbhe Reddy (/ˈælvə/, AL-va; born 1991) is an Irish indie folk singer-songwriter from Dublin.[2][3]

Early life

Reddy grew up in Dublin.[4] She originally planned to be a secondary school teacher and studied Irish and history, but later went back and got a psychotherapy degree and moved into music.[5]

Career

Reddy did not perform until she was 22 due to shyness.[5] She released her first LP in 2016, which received a 10/10 rating from The Last Mixed Tape.[6]

She cites Big Thief, Julia Jacklin, Jeff Buckley, The Shins and Andy Shauf as inspirations.[7]

Her debut album Personal History was nominated for the Choice Music Prize.[8]

Her second album Endless Affair received 9/10 from Hot Press.[9]

Personal life

Reddy is a lesbian.[10][11] She is based in Dublin and London.[12]
