"After Dark" is the breakout single by American singer and songwriter Mr.Kitty. It was released on July 8, 2014, as the ninth track from his fifth studio album, Time. The song went viral on YouTube, and later in 2021, it went viral on TikTok.

Background

The song went viral[1] on social media platforms after a fan video was published on YouTube in 2019,[2] five years after it was released.[3] "After Dark" peaked at number 195 on the US Billboard Global 200 chart,[4] becoming Mr.Kitty's entry on the Billboard charts. On January 1, 2025, it received a gold certification from the British Phonographic Industry.[5] The song rose to prominence following a 2019 fan video on YouTube,[2][6] of Jennifer Connelly in John Hughes'[7] 1991 film Career Opportunities.[2][6][8] In 2021, it later went viral on TikTok.[9][10] "After Dark" became Mr.Kitty's breakout single.[11]
