This ship is used to transport chemicals and make petroleum chemicals products in situ. It is on long-term lease to the United States. It is used around the world to service the needs of bases that make traditional supply runs uneconomical with their long term needs. The ship is capable of ocean travel. The main ship is a tug that is premantly afixed to its barge mate. This is the only articulated barge in service by the navy.
