The 209th Artillery Brigade (Hebrew: אגד ארטילרי 209) is an Israeli Ground Forces brigade subordinate to the Artillery Corps.[1] Formed in 1968, it has seen combat in many of Israel's wars.[1] In 2018 the brigade celebrated their 50th anniversary.[2]

History

The brigade was established in 1968 during the War of Attrition and was deployed to the Sinai Peninsula as a subordinate unit of the 252nd Division. It operated three regular battalions and two reserve battalions, all equipped with the Sherman-based M-50 self-propelled howitzer.[3]

The brigade was reactivated during the Yom Kippur War, once again fighting on the Egyptian front under the 252nd Division.[3]
