The 2025–26 PBA season, also referred to as PBA season 50, is upcoming the 50th season of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The season will begin in October 5, 2025, and will conclude sometime in 2026.
Commemorative events
The league's golden anniversary celebrations will continue into this season. The season logo in gold is unveiled on February 10.[1][2] There will also be a reunion of its 50 Greatest Players for the opening ceremony, ten of which were added last season.[3] Also planned are exhibition games against teams from Japan's B.League.[4]
On April 9, 2025, exactly 50 years after the PBA's establishment, two games of the 2025 Philippine Cup under the previous 2024–25 season was held at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum. Meralco Bolts and San Miguel Beermen would wear their "retro" jerseys.[5]
Teams
Changes from previous season:
- Eastern will return as a guest team for the Commissioner's Cup.[6]
- A second foreign-based guest team expressed interest to participate in the Commissioner's Cup.[7]
- Starhorse Shipping Lines, the owners of the Basilan Viva Portmasters, negotiated a buyout of Terrafirma Dyip's franchise. If successful, they would have competed as the "Sea Titans".[8] The sale was aborted after Starhorse failed to comply with sale requirements set by the PBA.[9] Since then, three other firms are looking to buy the franchise.[10] These include Universal Canning Inc., the sponsors of the Zamboanga Master Sardines,[11] and the Zamboanga Valientes.[12]
