The 2019 Porirua City Council election took place on 12 October 2019, to elect the Mayor of Porirua and city councillors the 2019–22 term, as part of nation-wide local elections.
Electoral system
The election was held using the single transferable vote system. Ten councillors were elected across three wards
Candidates could not spend more than $40,000 on electoral expenses[1] and had to disclose details of any donations larger than $1,500.[2]
