The 1972 Blue Swords Cup international figure skating competition (Pokal der Blauen Schwerter) was held in Dresden, East Germany. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles and pair skating.
Romy Kermer and Rolf Österreich of East Germany placed second in their first-ever pair skating competition together, while Manuela Groß and Uwe Kagelmann, also from East Germany, won the cup.[1]
