17th Shahrivar Street

17th of Shahrivar Street (خیابان هفده شهریور in Persian) is a main road in the south east of Tehran, connecting Khorasan Square to Shohada Square to the north and passing Khorasan Square further to the south towards Shoosh square.[1]

History

The street was called Shahbaz before the Islamic Revolution and was named after the event of protest in Shohada Square on 17th of Shahrivar in Persian Calendar which was on 8 September 1978. The event has been called Black Friday (1978).

Urban texture

The avenue is busy with a relatively narrow two sided road. On each side are shops mainlyselling and buying motorcycles, mopeds, bikes and parts.
