Đorđe Topalović (Serbian Cyrillic: Ђорђе Топаловић; born 11 January 1977) is a Serbian former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Over his career, he played for several clubs across Serbia, Iran, and Kazakhstan and represented FR Yugoslavia at youth international level.[1]
Club career
Topalović began his professional football career with Zemun in 1997, where he spent seven seasons until 2004. During his time with Zemun, he made numerous appearances in the First League of FR Yugoslavia and earned a reputation as a reliable and consistent goalkeeper.[2]
In 2004, he moved abroad to play in the Iranian Persian Gulf Pro League, signing for Esteghlal, one of the most successful clubs in the country.[3] After a season with Esteghlal, he joined Oghab Tehran, another Iranian club that competed in the Azadegan League at the time.[4]
Topalović returned to Serbia in January 2007, signing with OFK Beograd during the winter transfer window.[5]
In early 2008, he signed with Vostok in the Kazakhstan Premier League, where he played for one season.[6] Afterward, he returned once again to OFK Beograd in 2009 before retiring from professional football.
International career
Topalović was capped for the FR Yugoslavia national under-21 football team during the late 1990s. Although he did not make an appearance for the senior national team, he was considered a promising goalkeeper at the youth level.[1]
Style of play
Topalović was known for his strong shot-stopping ability and positional awareness. Standing at 1.90 m (6 ft 3 in), he utilized his height and reach to command his penalty area, especially in aerial situations.[7]
